As most of you know we decided to wait to find out if we were having our 3rd son or 1st daughter! It was torture in so many ways! But, the closer it got to the day that we met our new baby, the more I worried about the big things. I worried about the health of baby "dot" (that's what we called the baby) and just wanted a healthy, happy baby....
The most amazing part of natural childbirth, for me, was feeling every little part of the process. It was awesome to know what was going on and to feel the many stages of labor and what your body just naturally does. I've always thought that childbirth was amazing but now even more than ever. I cannot imagine how anyone could watch or experience the birth of a tiny little one and not know that we have a Heavenly Father that truly has a divine plan. Although it was a somewhat traumatic and painful experience, I am happy that I did it. I think part of me would have always wondered what it was like. I've also joked that this was the best form of birth control! I am 100% sure that I do not want to do that EVER again. haha.

My due date was March 1st but on Thursday, February 18th I went to my 38 week check up. I was dilated between a 2 and 3 and the doc muttered the most beautiful words yet..."Do you want to be induced?" I had been so miserable this pregnancy that it was music to my ears. We scheduled the induction for Monday, February 22, 2010!! 2-22-10.
Monday morning we loaded up the car and headed to the hospital-Cabrini's New Women's and Children's. I wasn't very nervous but very anxious. Since my epidurals didn't work well with the first two children I decided that I wanted to try to have this baby natural. But, I was keeping an open mind since I was being induced and with labor, anything can happen!
They didn't start me on pitocin until about 7:30 and the doctor came by at 8:30 and broke my water. Luke, my sister-Co
urtney, my mom, and my precious boys were all there to keep my mind occupied. I was fine, talking through the contractions and everything. The contractions got more intense about 11:30 but I was able to breath through them with the help of Luke, my mom and my sister Courtney.
Once I got to transition (from a 7-10) I was miserable. Luckily this didn't happen until about 12:00. I am not going to sugar coat it..the pain was insane! It was so intense that picture taking went out the window! haha!
The last 15 minutes was the worst for sure. I can't accurately explain the feeling because it was very unique. I literally felt the baby dropping and pushing to come out with every contraction. The nurses kept telling me not to push but it was an almost uncontrollable urge to push. Not just "Oh I think I want to push." But, I was having to fight against my body. That was something that I did not expect. I feared the actual delivery but the pain was so intense that all I kept asking to do was push! When the doc finally gave me the green light it was serious business! Don't get me wrong, the delivery was the most insane part of the experience but I was so ready for it to be over...I was a woman on a mission! As the head was crowning I remember the doctor telling me to take a breath and wait for the next contraction. All I could do is shake my head no. lol. He said, "Ok...let's push" and the head was out. Next was the shoulders, which I thought would be easy but they weren't! I only had to push for about 5 minutes so that was a blessing!
As soon as the baby was out, 12:41pm, the doctor said...."HE'S OUT! HE'S OUT!" I wasn't sure if he meant it was a boy or if he was just saying he out of habit...So the first words out of my mouth were, "He or she?" He suddenly remembered that we didn't know and looked down and then he said it... "IT'S A GIRL!!!" I immediately burst into tears (and I'm crying just thinking about it). He handed me my beautiful baby girl. Everything is a bit of a blur after that. I just remember thinking how beautiful and perfect she was as they took her to weigh her.
8lbs 6 oz. 21 inches long...what a cute little chunk!

So... now that the drama was over we needed a name. We had been talking about Jordyn Yvette but we didn't know if it was a girl at the time. So, after she was born we needed to talk about it and decide for sure we thought...That is, until Tylen and Braylen came running in the room saying "Baby Jordyn!" We were SOLD! I LOVE her name now and it just fits right in with the family. For those of you who do not know, Yvette is my middle name. I was named after a dear family friend, Connie Yvette Smith. I always wanted to pass on the name and I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to do that. So...that's the story as long as I could possibly tell it!! ;-)
Here is MISS JORDYN YVETTE BURCH!!!
